Jamie Gold started playing in poker tournaments in 2005. His first big win at a live tournament was at the Bicycle Casino playing No Limit Texas Hold’Em where he won $54,000. Knowing that he had what it took to be a top earner, he played in tournaments for the next year and finished in the money several more times.
Jamie Gold was born in 1969 in the United States under the
name of Jamie M.Usher. His name was changed by a court order to Gold after his
mother remarried to Dr. Robert Gold. At first, Jamie gold was considered an
average casino player that played only for small stakes. Over his years of
playing he slowly gained more confidence and experience and started rising is
gambling stakes. The high climax of his career happened in 2006 while winning
more than 12 million dollars which made him a very rich man.
In 2007 Jamie Gold, the 2006 World Series of
Poker Main Event winner, hasn’t had very much success. He cashed
twice in smaller WSOP events, but that is as far as he’s gone.
Jamie Gold was born on August 29, 1965 in New
York City. He surprised the poker world win his victory at the 2006
WSOP and unfortunately for him, he made many enemies along the way.
At the poker table, Jamie Gold was arrogant, snobbish, and a
generally bad person as he disregarded rules of politeness and
etiquette. Because of this, he may be the most despised Main Event
champions in the history of the game.
At the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event,
Jamie Gold was an unwanted presence. He constantly annoyed the other
players with his attitude, he would tell people what he had, he
flashed his cards, and he always belittled his opponents’ play
whenever he won a big hand. Also, Jamie agreed to split his winnings
with a partner who helped him get some celebrities to wear Bodog
Poker apparel as a way to advertise the poker room. Jamie didn’t
complete the deal by sharing his winnings, and faced a lawsuit from
his partner. The lawsuit was settled, but Jamie Gold’s image took
another beating. Jamie has very few fans and one of his few friends
at the 2006 WSOP was his poker mentor, Johnny Chan, who simply
wanted to see his student do well in the tournament.
Despite his poker win, Jamie Gold has not quit
his job. He is a television producer and was also a talent agent. In
his work he has helped many different people enter the entertainment
industry and become stars, with his biggest success being James
Gandolfini from the now ended TV show, The Sopranos.
Jamie Gold agreed to represent Bodog Poker after
the 2006 WSOP, signing a two-year contract. However, Bodog ended the
contract in January 2007 due to focus more of their marketing
efforts on the European continent.
